Some severely devestating tornadoes rolled through parts of Illinois this weekend... you can find resources to pass along to anyone who you know who's been affected by the destruction AND find ways to help below.
A Facebook page has been put together for one of the worst-hit towns, Washington. CLICK HERE to connect with them and keep track of updates.
CLICK HERE to connect with the Central Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross. You can donate online, and find info on aid.
WQAD will collect monetary donations for the American Red Cross on Tuesday (11/19) from 5am to 7pm at their TV station in Moline (3003 Park 16th Street).
The Wallnut Fire Dept will be collecting donations today (11/18) for tornado victims at the station from 4pm until at least 7pm (possibly later).
The items requested are as follows:
Non-perishable food items
Large garbage bags
Infant care items
Manual can openers
If you have any of the items please bring them by the station. We will be taking all items to a center tomorrow that will transport them to places in need.
IF YOU HAVE LOST POWER AND YOU NEED EMERGENCY REFRIGERATION, PLEASE GO TO OUR PEORIA OR PEKIN SCHNUCKS WITH YOUR PERISHABLES AND STORE THEM UNTIL YOUR POWER IS RESTORED. ITEMS MUST BE IN COOLERS, CONTAINERS OR BAGS AND THEY MUST BE SEALED WITH YOUR NAME AND PHONE NUMBER ATTACHED.
Brittany Klundt and Rachel Wright are both Thirtyone consultants. Now until November 26th we are taking donations to buy totes for those who are affected. "This fundraiser is for all who were stripped of their homes, cars, possessions, food and good water in the devastating destruction of the tornadoes that swept through Pekin and Washington and the surrounding areas on Sunday, November 17th. We are asking for donations of $42 (plus shipping/tax) to purchase one Large Utility Tote and one Medium Utility Tote to give to the people in desperate need. We will be taking the commission earned by these sales and using it to fill the totes with food, water, and toiletries." We are taking cash, check, credit card, and item donations.
This is my best bud, Danny. He's participating in "No Shave November," are you?
If you ARE growing out your grizzly mane, or grooming a 'stache, please consider coming to a benefit fundraiser / shave party on December 7th! The benefit is for a friend of mine, battling cancer. It's going to be a fun day, AND we're going to see some sweet facial hair, I'm sure. :) CLICK HERE for more info on the event!
Okay... so someone made a comic book about the life of Carrie Underwood. As her biggest fan, I may or may not be adding this to my Christmas list...
"What happens when a small town girl will stop at nothing to follow her dreams? Carrie Underwood is what happens. A story of faith, determination and inspiration. FAME: The Carrie Underwood Story follows the Superstar’s trials and tribulations, leading her to become the top female performer of our era."
