Taco Bell has now sold a half-a-BILLION Doritos Locos Tacos!! (Have you tried them lately? YUM!)
A federal prison inmate named Gary Cole claims that the idea was his FIRST and is now suing Taco Bell! Here's the story:
Taco Bell claims that its product developers came up with the idea for the Doritos Locos Taco -- probably the most successful new fast food item of the 21st century so far, with more than half a billion sold in the past 14 months -- at a summit with Frito-Lay executives at its Irvine, Calif., headquarters. But a lawsuit filed by federal prison inmate Gary Cole in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas on May 15 alleges that the story behind the taco is a lie. In his 35-page handwritten complaint, Cole insists that he invented the Doritos Locos Taco -- and that Taco Bell and Frito-Lay stole the idea from him through the mail.
In September 2006, Cole wrote up a list of nine product ideas. Most of them were assorted products -- hot sauces, body oils, health mixes -- to be sold under the brand "Divas and Ballers." But one, the second in the list, was "Taco Shells of All Flavors (Made of Doritos)." The complaint says Cole sent the list to Janice B Cole and Keoiana K. Cole in September 2010 -- but that the letter was "stolen through the United States Postal Service Mail and submitted to Frito Lays [sic], Taco Bell, Pepsi Co, Yum Brands," by someone whose identity remains a mystery to Cole. The companies gave the mail thief "a check ... for a large amount" for the rights to his idea, then started manufacturing and selling the Doritos Locos Taco, the complaint says. It is unclear how Janice and Keoiana Cole are connected to Gary Cole.

Yesterday news broke of Angelina Jolie's decision to undergo a "preventative double mastectomy" since she carries a gene that sharply increases her risk for developing breast and/or ovarian cancer.

We’ve all gotten used to those ubiquitous pump-topping TV screens that scream inane chatter at us while we wait for our hilariously overpriced gas to top up. But what if one of them started talking directly at you? Such is the nature of this "Tonight Show" prank, in which a talking head on a gas pump screen charmingly bantered with Will Sims. Sims took the prank in-stride (we would have screamed "Big Brother is watching!" and fled the scene) and then, with the help of his wife, Monifa, the couple dipped into some impromptu karaoke with more charisma and musical talent than an episode of "American Idol." Well played, guys! People — the best thing about the world. SOURCE

It appears as if Randy Jackson is saying he's leaving American Idol. (Didn't this happen last season?) AND, there are a lot of changes coming to next season, including the firing of ALL the current judges - Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. Producer Nigel Lythgoe is reportedly also out. (So why are they returning next season again? lol) Here's the story...
Randy Jackson, the sole holdout from the original cast of judges on American Idol, is leaving the show after this season comes to a close. "To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season," Jackson told Us Weekly yesterday. "I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It's been a life changing opportunity, but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures."
The 56-year-old Jackson was an original panelist when American Idol began 12 seasons ago. Jackson, along with host Ryan Seacrest, has outlasted former judges Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez, and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler.
Jackson's departure appears to be part of a massive overhaul on American Idol. Earlier this week, The Wrap reported that none of the show's current judges – Jackson, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban – would return for next season, and producer Nigel Lythgoe would also be leaving. The Hollywood Reporter noted last month that American Idol had been averaging a 4.3 rating in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, its worst showing since its debut season in 2001. By contrast, NBC's The Voice reached a 5.2 rating in the same demographic while American Idol dropped to a series low 2.8 in the same week, indicating a change in momentum for the two singing competition shows.
